Abstract

Animal and plant pathogenic bacteria have established virulence factors to successfully exploit their respective hosts. Out of the bacteria, Pseudomonas syringae injects a large repertoire of effector proteins into plant cells through a type III secretion apparatus and suppresses immunity in a host-dependent fashion. Here, we firstly demonstrate that P. syringaeinoculation caused mouse fatality in a type III secretion-dependent manner. Effector screening revealed that the HopQ1 disrupted phagocytosis by attenuating the plasticity of actin rearrangement following translocation. A major regulator for actin plasticity, LIM kinase as a molecular target was malfunctioned by directly interacting to its LIM domain with HopQ1. Our results provide new insight into cross-kingdom pathogenic bacteria from plant to animal through disrupting innate immunity by type III effector –based common virulent mechanism.
